DakshinaChitra is a living history museum, literally translated “an image of the south”. This museum has 18 houses that represent the culture, architecture, handicrafts and lifestyle of all four southern Indian states – Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh / Telangana and Karnataka – using more than 4,000 artifacts.
The Chennai Government Museum is known for preserving some of the best ancient (10th-13th centuries) and modern South Indian bronzes. The Amaravathi Gallery also houses marble sculptures depicting the life of Gautam Buddha from the 2nd century.

Tours to mystical temples

Ashtalakshmi Temple is home to Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and knowledge, and is just a few kilometers from Besant Beach. The divine ambience of this temple was built to worship the eight avatars of the goddess Lakshmi. The most interesting part of this place?
