Paradise for sports tourists in Mallorca in nature landscapes and beaches

Mallorca is the Elysium for every outdoor athlete. Cyclists and golfers in particular discovered this early. For decades, thousands of people have been pedaling their pedals every year, forming their own tourism sector and stimulating the off-season. In addition, golf sport strengthens the nature of tourism on site and athletes find diversification and breathtaking fairways with a clear view of the sea on a full 24 golf courses.

Outdoor sports paradise Mallorca

300 days of sunshine, appealing temperatures and an undoubtedly immaculate infrastructure make every athlete’s heart beat to the limit!

Despite that, summer is also known to water sports enthusiasts. When they are in the sea, the waves become colorful and feverish. Mallorca is often about canoe rowers, beach-up paddlers, swimmers and divers who share the cool ocean. The beautiful beaches on the 550km long coast are also indispensable for many, because it is easy to find a quiet place to take a break after an exhausting day filled with sport and to end the evening in peace.
But on the island in Spain there are also more and more hikers who visit the Tramuntana Mountains in particular. There they then climb the thousands of peaks and enjoy the incomparable views. Even the local residents from Spain are drawn to the heavenly mountains of the island. They are often looking for rest and relaxation and ultimately they are rewarded with truly beautiful views.

A dream! I could go on and on with the list of activities in Mallorca, but limit myself to the best known and most popular sports on the island in Spain and tell you the most beautiful places for them. Most are worth a short trip, others are almost unknown. But all unite the desire for sport in indescribably beautiful nature.

Cycling in Mallorca

Mallorca is a paradise for cyclists, you do not have to keep silent. More than 150,000 cyclists come to the Spanish island every year and have formed an enormously lucrative industry. Especially at the beginning of the year, the colorful drivers rustle the passes up and down, irritate the local drivers and count entire sections of the country as their territories. The drivers are divided into two categories. The kilometer sharks occupy the flat and very long bay of Alcudia and the connoisseurs can be found in the mountainous southwest.
Incidentally, the fun started about 20 years ago. There the men still drove in larger groups on rather unsuitable bumpy slopes across the island nation. Spain recognized the possibility and started to develop the bumpy paths and to create attractive cycling routes. A complete success, also that the proportion of women has increased to around 35%!

E-bike trend

In addition to the well-known normal cycling, however, a new trend is beating on the island with attention. Cycling on the electric bike, whether in groups with a group leader or on your own. When riding an electric bike, even the weakest of us can ride distances of up to 60 kilometers a day without any problems, climb steep slopes and concentrate on the wonderful nature. For this, some organizers have even come up with something extravagant. The so-called cappuccino groups, which mostly consist of connoisseurs and drive to the most beautiful corners of the island. In addition, stops are often made on well-known beaches to have a coffee together and take photos.

Furthermore, the UNESCO-protected Tramuntana Mountains are recommended, which is counted as a paradise among cyclists all over the world. The unforgettable routes and the perfect weather provide perfect properties, especially for cycling amateurs!

Insider tips for your stay

Castell Route: A pleasant tour for everyone among us, whether with an electric bike, a racing bike or a city bike. The route leads from Castell Son Claret via Es Capdella downhill through a beautiful valley to Paguera. From there, a unique bike path leads to Santa Ponsa. When you get there you will find a characteristic windmill where you can take a break. Then the old, little-used path leads back to Calvia and Es Capdella. The route is completed with a break at the windmill in about four hours.

Coastal route: This route is considered one of the most beautiful bike tours in Mallorca. The little-used road offers you the full enjoyment of nature and the beaches, with a breathtaking view of the Tramuntana mountains by the sea.
